all of the vegeterian people at my temple aren't skinny at all. some are actually fat. you can thank taco bell and their cheese and bean burritos wink.gif but i think they know how to keep healthy, it's not like everybody there is skinny down to their ribs.

but lougan here's something

So one 8 oz steak, or 12 servings of different plants.

as i recall a cow eats ___ many grass in order to get enough protein and vitimins to produce that 1 8 oz steak. i can't remember exactly but come on you can feed more people on veggies (not that eating nothing but salad is a lot healthier) than you can with meat. you eat 12 servings of plants that is only 12 servings. but if you eat meat, it takes ___ servings to feed that 1 cow, in order to eat that 8 oz steak. so wouldn't eating veggies be more effcient?

First, I didnt google anything, and I usually dont unless i need exact numbers wink.gif.

For your consideration student,
if you consider the price of meat, its cheap. 4.50 a lbs for beef. a little more for pork. a little less for chicken.

to get the same nutritional value from plant matter, you have to eat many different kinds of vegetables to get the full amount of sustainable nutrients. Vegetables may be cheaper, but you have to eat a crap load of it. And you have to eat many different kinds. And even if you do, you still have to take suppliments. Some nutrients are not available in plant form. B2, B12, Iron, zinc, and calcium are good examples. Its just hard for some people to pick up vegetables that contain these in a local grocery store. B2 and B12 are impossible. You have to consume some dairy in order to get these.

So from a cost standpoint, it is more expensive to be a vegetarian. There is alot of crap saying to the otherwise, but really think about it, cost always ends up with the consumer.

From a just eating it stand point is is more efficient to eat meat. To go to the carnivore vs herbivore thing. Herbivores constantly eat. Carnivores when they are hungry. In alot of cases at least.

I'm not saying its wrong to be a vegetarian. I do believe that not eating meat because of something PETA told you is stupid. I think its a choice people should make on their own. If they want to live a certain lifestyle. I think alot of hype is really crap, and that people should think for themselves.

If they dont eat chicken because people snip a chickens beak. Whatever, it keeps them from pecking each other to death. I think chopping a chickens head off is a better way to die. Its quick. Its painless. If a chicken could actually think. Cows can't even procreate on their own. People put to many human traits into these animals.

the response student was looking for...

from an overall conservation of energy standpoint, it is technically more efficient to be a vegetarian.

but since when have we, as a species, been concerned with that? from the human standpoint, it is more efficient for us to eat meat.

Cows eat poo.

Yet, it's still ever so tasty.

Let's just face it. Everything is bad for us. Enjoy what you like because we're all going to die anyway.

On that note, I think I'll enjoy a nice ribeye for lunch.

I do have one question... why do soy burgers and other "healthy" food cost so damned much?????? The food has less in it, yet they charge more.

I thought you said it was more cost efficient to be a vegetarian.

haha.

Yay for processed foods. My question, why do vegetarians eat vegetarian chicken nuggetts and vegetarian hamburgers?? Why do they have to eat food of similar flavor and texture?

Don't they know they tossed those unborn baby soy plants into a GRINDER. They murdered the baby soy plant's parents and ground them up for soy oil and extracts. A soy plant DIED for your dinner. A Baby soy plant at that. Her shoots will never grow up towards the sun. Her experiences will be over. Its ABORTION! Its MURDER! Its an ABOMBINATION!

at least with cows we let them live a few years and experience life. We dont cut out cattle fetuses, grind them up, and call it health food.

Heh heh.

Cows eat poo.

Where do you think the poo sits before they eat it? On rocks? No... on VEGETABLES.

The twins I take care of are vegans. I have to hide the erasers when they are here. Otherwise they eat the erasers. They think it is tofu. If erasers and tofu taste the same, I think I will stick to eating meat.

Its a good thing I dont eat veg then aint it.

I would suck as a Vegetarian. I dont eat Friut, Veg or Salad. Not because its 'cool' or whatever, but because I actually cant bring myself to swallow it... I gag and nearly throw up. It reminds me of eating a leaf off a tree eating Grass or something - Yeuck!

Whose to say a plant doesnt have a soul? Who is to say that a cow has one. Who said you had one?

oops, sorry mr plant, you dont have a magical spiritual being nestled in your stem. That means we can destroy you with no regard. Have a great day smile.gif

but not all vegetarians are like that... in fact, most vegetarians could give a shit what you eat. people that subscribe to such nonsense are simply being spiteful toward a fairly large group of fellow human beings for absolutely no reason.
