Here is how Lougan see's it.
You are what you eat. Keith is right. You can get the same protein from veggies that you can from meat. For all the protein you get in a steak, you have to eat about 12 different vegetables. In order to get every amino acid you need. So one 8 oz steak, or 12 servings of different plants. You'd have to eat ALOT of food to get the same nutrients. Plants are 90% cellulose. aka fiber.
Keith is right. Humans are omnivores. And we do have a choice. The thing is, many vegetarians dont make the "right" choice. A boca burger is not more heathy than a hamburger. I'd say they are about the same. If all you ate was hamburgers. You would die. If all you are was boca burgers, you would die. With the hamburger, you would die quick from a heart attack or something. With a boca burger, you would die a slow painful death, where every system shut down from a lack of protein.
There is no healthier lifestyle. Whether you eat meat, or you don't. You have to get the same nutrients. The majority of the vegtarians I have seen look more like people on a fasting, simply because they dont get the right nutrients. They dont even take suppliments. They get sick alot. etc. Jimmy and Emily are the only ones I've seen that did it right.
I love meat. PETA smells of Poo. Go STEAK!

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
actually. True herbivore mammals do one of two things.
One, they have multiple stomachs, the first ferments the vegatable matter in bacteria, in which the animal throws it up and chews on it more and swallows it, digesting the bacteria for protien. They are known as "cud chewers" cows are a good example. So are horses.
Two, they eat their own feces, which is high in bacterial matter, and they digest those for protien.
