sooo i took my first art class this summer (Intro to Drawing) aaaand i want to my share my new (but amateur) skills

criticisms and compliments are welcomed

(these two are day and night drawings of the sky using pastels)

and these three are my end of the semester projects using charcoal and pastel (different landscape drawings of pictures i took)

...and apparently i have to post them separately because the file sizes are too big

...or maybe it'll just put them all on the same post... lol

i might have been inhaling a little too much of the fixative spray

definately more atmosphere and personality in the night picture.

the day pic is ok, but the cloud looks more like a fish...and if it were orange, it would remind me of the end of the Faith No More - Epic video and that makes me sad.

so you owe me a a sad

but I definatley like the night pic.

don't take this the wrong way, but it has a kind of "illustrative" feel too it, like something out of a children's book, which is not to say it looks like a child did it, but something very well done to illustrate the mood of a particular part of a book

ooh. the cactus-y thing is fun..very alien and dimensional compared to the rest.

a lot of detail in the other flower pic...but a little busy for my tatstes...not that it sin't good..jsut not a favorite

oh why thank you aske, the day pic was actually kind of rushed cuz i had to turn it in that day... go figure, i'll probably re-do it at some point

however the night pic was done tonight, and it was actually done a lot more through emotion rather than from sight

the snowy trees is a little soft...good though..a lot of patience and detail in teh trees, but they kinda overpower the rest of the picture and when you go to look at the back ground, there's just not enough definition there.

Are you still drawing?? Those are awesome, I just LOVE the flower pic and your trees :)

And the cactus has so much more depth than the rest, I likes it!

OOO I should put up the one lil painting I did for my daughter, you would probably laugh at my inability to paint. I can't wait to see your work! Update with some new drawing pics?

umm i have some abstract stuff that i still need to post up here... most of it's just playing with color tho, not much technique involved... i'll eventually get them up here when i'm feeling less lazy
