The cold mid-Spring wind stung our naked toes,
As they danced on the crisp paving stones.
The murky moon stared down on us that beautiful night,
(Maybe it was wrong but it felt so right.)-----not sure

It seemed that the rules didn’t apply when we were in the city,
How could I care when your eyes looked so pretty?
The cold air turned my fingers blue,
Matching the jumper I wore, belonging to you.

“You’re special”, you told me,
Confirmed by the way you held me.
I knew that when we got home it would all be gone,
So I didn’t want to sit around waiting for dawn.

The smoky skies held no stars,
But I didn’t care because tonight was ours.
I had a habit of pushing you away,
But the spirit of the night had consumed the fears of the day.

Buildings scraped the sky,
The sky that looked upon you and I.
You had a history of turning your back to me,
But just for that one night,
Dancing on the pavement,
Staring at the sky,
We were free.
We were free.

Unfortunately I must retire and fry some bacon.
