see, that's the thing...there were already phones out with 3G and navigation last year for the same price as an iPhone, but nooooo, everyone wanted an iPhone for what? A Swiffy touch screen (something else already out) and poor media playback and a force install of iTunes?

you enjoy vista dont you?
the iphone is the shit...i live and die by mine, i dont even know if i would remember to talk or walk if i didnt have it anymore. I used to walk around with a calander a phone and an ipod and it is all in one, user friendly, and fun. The 3g will be alright, but im going to stick with mine until the next next generation .......im imagining an iphone that just floats next to you all day.

haven't touched vista, and have no real plans to, but that's a different situation. MS promised all these wonderful things with Vista and didn't deliver. Apple came out and said "here's the bare minimum we can offer to make it look like a phone no one's ever seen before." Then dropped it 100 bucks not 6 months later. And now they drop it 200 bucks and throw in all the things that should've been there before.

I've got what is basically a pre-Tilt Tilt (AT&T/Cingular 8125). And with all the flash cards I need, a limitless supply of music if I wanted. But that's what I have my 30Gb Zen:M for.

wtf is a 'hi-def' internet browser?

and blackberry is kinda meh for me because I don't like their exclusivity in designs and network...but they do work. My wife has one of the new ones, and its quite the bee's knees.

I'm holding out for a N95 maybe...or one of the just previewed Sony-Ericsson game/media phones.

LG has a nice new one out with decent streaming TV on it, but there's no wi-fi...which is not a deal breaker since its 3G...but you're limited on service availability

Since this is now the cell phone thread, I should be getting a treo 755p here soon. I haven't played around with one, but its gotta be an upgrade from my old blackberry 7520. The only thing better than a nice phone is a free nice phone.

actually, I had a 3G Phone. I had a Blackjack (which Maren is using now). Honestly, the internet may have loaded faster on the Blackjack, but it wasn't a full browser. Webpages just didnt load in it correctly. The web browser is just that much better. Plus the screen is way larger.

The other main reason, my Blackjack cost me 140-150 bucks a month, for 900 mins and an unlimited data plan. I got a plan for maren and I with the iPhone and the Blackjack. Now I have 1400 mins, with unlimited internet and texting (didn't have texting before). I pay $120 now. The iPhone has already paid for itself, just for having a cheaper plan with it.

I use the music alot, it works fine for me, I just plug it into my car when I'm driving. It definitely works better than iPods I've used in that fashion. Just some of the uses I've made out of my iPhone:

  • Fandango-ing while at dinner with friends, so we don't have to stand in line, or look at times
  • Movie and DVD reviews while looking at Best Buy
  • If a store doesn't have what I'm looking for, I look on their website to see what store does
  • I compare prices with other retailers
  • News everywhere
  • Email everywhere
  • Notes for everything
  • Google Maps
  • Wikipedia - for proving I'm right when Maren is obviously wrong
  • Weather Channel - everywhere
  • Facebook - everywhere
  • Posting on The Blog Life, and IRB
  • Checking my Bank Account
  • Managing the University Admissions Calendars and Databases
  • Looking up Nintendo DS Cheats during a wedding (new this weekend)
  • AIM MSN Yahoo (through Meebo)
  • Visual Voice Mail (the best voice mail... ever)
I'm sure there is alot more that I haven't thought about. But yeah. It does alot that the blackjack couldn't do. And the things the blackjack did, it didnt close to as well as the iPhone. With one exception. The iPhone Calendar needs work. I have few complaints other than speed.

blackjack data plan (if its anything like our windows based pdas at vzw), and iphone data plan are 2 very different things. thats like saying papa johns pizza is the same as tombstone pizza from the freezer.

also, they should make this.

at the time, there wasnt an amazing deal on dataplans. from what I can tell, most unlimted data plans are around 39-59 dollars. The iPhone plan comes with it.

The BlackJack is pretty much the same thing as a BlackBerry. Just with Windows Mobile.

Not the best analogy. I hate papa johns. I can stand tombstone.

your 3g iphone plan will be $30, same as the blackberry service (without corp provision).
