I believe in fate and in free will to pick your destiny... meaning you are predestined to choose to do something in a particular way.... i know that seems oxy moronic but it really isn't

Wow. Where to start. First, let me say that I am not attacking you as a person or your beliefs, but, fated freewill is not just oxymoronic but completely incompatible.

To be predestined to make a particular choice cancels out any possiblility of freewill.
One could still have the concept of freewill and believe that they are making their own choices, but ultimately if fate is involved in any way, shape or form, free will is obsolete.

Then again, do we really have free will in our everyday life with the stipulations the government puts on us?

The topic of free will is too subjective anyway, so you can disregard everything that I said.

It's up to you. Either way, we will both continue to breathe.

I feel the same way, and it kinda makes me want to throw up when I think about being alone in making decisions that could alter my whole life. But unfortunately for me, I'm at a point in my life where I have to decide on lots of things. dang.

I also believe in fate and free will, and I understand what you mean when you say that it isn't oxymoronic. I'm glad someone else thinks in a way similar to mine.

free will all the way. fate is cutey and the like, and perhaps we are destined for something, but we decide how to get there, and whether we feel like being destined for it or not.

I believe human beings have the illusion of freewill, and are not governed by "fate" but by neurobiology.
and i am nothing of a builder
but here i dreamt i was an architect
and i built this balustrade
to keep you home, to keep you safe
from the outside world
but the angles and the corners
even though my work is unparalelled
they never seemed to meet
this structure fell about our feet
and we were free to go

Ordinary people think the "Great Tao" is actually useless.
That everyone thinks it is useless, is proof of how great it is.
If it was the kind of thing ordinary people thought was useful,
it would have disappeared long ago.

i think if someone gets hit by a car it is because they walk out in the middle of traffic, not cause they were predestined to do it...so watch out, there's alot of stupid people out there!

the point is they choose do to walk out there but they did that before they could even think to know what consequences would come of it .... it is the combination of everyones choices that in combination that forces our decisions one way or another .... and because all the decisions were made before concept of consequence it is fate that you do it this way and react that way and are forced to be in that street then rather than an hour from now

If you're referring to the butterfly effect, maybe you watch too many movies, because you associate the term "butterfly effect" with a movie. The butterfly effect has been around and studied for far longer than Ashton Kutcher has been receiving paychecks.

Maybe we are just over thinking things... we should stop worrying about fate, or what will happen.

Just live for the moment. And reach for your dreams
