yeah, so apparently b/c i kicked up so much fuss about it... i now have a '94 toyota corolla instead. you better believe im selling that thing too.

SO, I have a question:

Did you pay anything for this car? Or did your dad just buy it for you?

the agreement is that he'll buy a cheapish (up to $5,000) car for me & insurance while I get myself sorted for an apartment etc, and then I'll take over payments on the car once I'm established and stable. But, the agreement was also that it was a car we could both compromise & agree upon, & that we wouldn't buy anything unless we consulted with one another first. We'd agreed upon an integra, jetta, prelude, mustang & cabrio- nothing older than a '96, no matter how great of condition it was in. he's completely broken the agreement we had, and done just whatever he felt like, rather than sticking to the terms [which he laid out]. So I'm slapping a for sale sticker on the car & selling it asap when I get back to NC. & If I really wanted to be a complete bitch about it, I could sell his 2000 lincoln contenental out from under him too.

Please forgive me if I dont understand the fullness of the situation, but he doesn't owe you anything. Maybe a little gratitude would be in order since he spent the money on you. Isn't it the thought that counts? He could have bought you a bus pass...

It's not that. It's like if someone made an agreement with me and didn't follow through i'd be ticked as well.

exactly my point red.

im so sick and tired of everyone telling me i should be grateful- theres absolutely no reason to be. he broke his word... which he does every single time. so no, im not happy & im not grateful. for once, he could do as he said he would & for THAT i would be grateful.

edit- and its also the fact that there's not a chance in hell that im taking over payments on a car that i dont like, and i dont want. that was the agreement- it was a car we were compromising on, so that there wouldnt be this kind of fuss. he'd pay for the first couple of months, and there on after, the car would be my responsibility. so its more important that its something i want, rather than something he wants seeing as its mostly my money that's going into it.

Moms and Dads reserve the right to buy whatever car they want for their child. The child should be thankful. If the child wants to sell the car, that is up to them.

well when you have a child, then thats your decision. but if you go into an agreement with your child, then its expected you keep to it. especially if the child is the one whos going to end up paying for it in the the long run..

you know what? i dont like you much. don't bother replying to my posts in future please. all you ever do is have a stupid and defensive arguement about it and its not worth the time. thanks.

Was this agreement in Writing?

I mean, it's all well and good to be irritated, but my parents didn't consult me when they bought me the Big Brown Turd. It was an awesome truck, looking back, but at the time I thought it was the lamest thing ever. But shit, I didn't pay anything for it.

If you want a '99 integra, go buy one.

Speaking of which, why do you "hatehatehatehatehatehate" civics and want an Integra? You know they're the same car, right? And why a '99? Why not a 94? or a 2001? (Also, the Acura Integra is probably the biggest thief magnet in automotive history)

But, eh, whatever.

wow, you know the first thing thing i thought is, "jeeez, if my dad bought me a car, i'd be grateful all together. it's a freakin car - how many people in their lifetime can say a car has been bought for them??"

but, my dad bought me my car 3 years ago.
did i complain that it wasn't exactly what i wanted? no.
i'm not going to mention what kind of car he got me, because i think that's besides the point i'm trying to make in this post. even though the car i got wasn't what i "dreamed of" or what he told me he was going to buy me, i was grateful and jumped up and down, nonetheless.

it truly sickens me that there's people in this world that are as ingrateful as this.
i guess that what parents who over-privledge their kids get. spoiled rotten.

over priviledged? yeaaaaaaah... open mouth, insert foot sweetheart.

im just sick and tired of his shit. saying one thing and doing another. this is a long running feud between me & him. there wouldn't be a problem if he'd just do as he says he will.

well, then apparently it's true that he does owe you something.

i just think it's ridiculous that a child is the one saying they're tired of their parent's "shit". i mean, he IS buying you a car, correct? it's predictable that you would complain about recieving a car as a gift, moan and groan about the car you got not being the one you were promised, and get argumentative with people that hold a mirror in front of you showing you for your true colors.

i think my point's been made. you can go ahead continuing to whine and fight your little battle over IRB telling people you're not "over privledged", attempting to belittle people by calling them names like (ie: "sweetheart"), and somehow justify that because your dad has a track record of not giving you what you want - his gifts are effortless and shite. that kind of manipulation and spoiled rottenness might work on your dad, but it doesn't fade me.

i totally agree
my parents just bought me a car that i just sort of settled for. origionally my dad was gonna get me a '95 jeep in california which would cost about $5,500. but when we went to the volvo shop in my area the guy said he had a '94 volvo for $3,500. it was practically a non-issue, we all just agreed that that was the smartest decision to make: to save money. did i complain? no. it's a car. it gets me where i want to go. and my parents arent poor now b/c of it.

honda owns acura. it's the same car, you're correct.
