Is profiling better than the slaughter of innocent people? What is profiling? Profiling is pretty much prejudice, is it not? I think that profiling is exactly that. Its prejudging someone based on their race or ethnic background. Muslims/Arabs are not the only terrorists who have attacked American soil. Suspicion of terror should not include such things as that.
Believe me, there are plenty of radicals out there, who are white and very much evil, who banged their table and said... fuck, i wish i had thought to do that.
Its people who think profiling is ok, that are condemed to think only muslims are those we should worry about. It is they who don't believe in the liberties that make today's civilization so wonderful.
Lets remember... a small group of people dont speak for the whole race. Would you want to be considered a security risk because of the KKK? Or because of Timothy McVeigh? Or even Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin?
No.

Well, it all depends on what you mean by profiling, now doesn't it?
Strip searching all brown people because they're brown is wrong.
Asking for additional security measures because you were born in a country known to house terrorists...is that wrong?
Personally, I think airlines should disallow carryon baggage, have a thorough screening of checked baggage, and give you a "flight uniform" and a place for you to change. Voila, everyone is identical and happy.
Of course, I also think that the cockpit should not have any physical access to the cabin, and vice versa.
Now, RE: The KKK. If some alabama redneck KKK members (bear with me, nothing against 'bama) flew a trio of planes into the WTC and pentagon, I would have additional security measures in place for anyone meeting the following parameters:
From alabama
Ties with the KKK
Ties with similar white supremecy groups
People who exhibited signs of aggression and or characteristics of that group of individuals.
NOT "all white people".
