Here are some screenshots of my laptop running Windows Vista Beta 2 Build 5381.

My Laptop is not able to support the new Aero prettiness, but thats ok, it still looks great.  Overall im rather surprised how stable it is.  The only thing that crashes it is me. It is for the most part backwards compatible, I have run into a few problems though.  Oddly enough, Windows tells you installing a said program could cause your computer to be unstable.  Being the bastard I am, i hit yes to the install anyway button, and crash the thing.   haha.  What didnt work was Trillian, Citrix, DAEMON Tools, and some other programs I cant remember.

And yes, its a legal copy.  You can get your own at www.windowsvista.com

Anyway, enjoy the screen pics

Specs:
Laptop: Dell XPS M140
Processor: Pentium M (Centrino) 1.73 GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache,
RAM: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2
Graphics: Intel GMA 915GM with 128MB Shared Memory
Hard Drive: 60GB SATA
Optical: DVD+/-RW with dual layer

this is what happens when you first start, it helps you set up everything you need.   kinda handy not having to search around.  Also windows Sidebar comes with it as well.  Also a cool feature.

thank god for the improved graphics on solitaire.  Did they do anything to minesweeper?  I'm thinking it could use a little force feedback.  that'd be awesome.

I don't know, I think you can, but you can always run this application to be sure:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getr...or/default.mspx

Its a small program, I think you have to use activeX though to get it, that means using IE.

mine runs great.  now that i know whats going on.

REMEMBER:
Vista runs best with a clean installation.  If you upgraded, especially if you have alot on your computer.  Vista will crash due to bad drivers, startup programs, etc.   I upgraded from Windows XP MCE 2005, the MCE drivers didnt work with Vista, so it crashed alot.

Vista will tell you whats slowing down your computer.  Go to control panel, system and maintenance, performance rating and tools.  It will tell you what exactly is slowing down your computer.

Cool, Vista should finish downloading after 3 hours... Can't wait! tongue.gif And no, I'm not downloading some cracked pirated version packed with viruses.

It's almost impossible to have a cracked pirated version of a public beta :-P

well I did uninstall vista.  Simply because I need my computer to be a little more stable, with work and IRB.  It was fun though.

XP Pro is now installing.  I havent used it in a long time.  Something seems to be wrong with my MCE disk.

I'm running it on my home box (but not for much longer) --

Had all the Aero hawtness going on -- but I've found there is one major problem for me --

NO SLI Support at this time...  It does some wierd things on a dual-GPU box -- (at one time it thought I had 4 monitors)

And to answer your question, Maxx -- yes, Aero glass will run just fine on a 256 MB GF6600 (i'm running the 128 MB version).

Other than that -- I like the new office -- it took a little getting used to, but overall I don't have many complaints -- I was a little disappointed though -- Outlook 2007 looks just like Outlook 2003 with RSS feeds.

I think it'll probably come off during the holiday weekend -- I'm starting to get withdrawal twitches from couterstrike (it'll run on the box as is, but no SLI glory, and I don't wanna get pwned because my FPS is low =P)

I went back to MCE... for pretty much same reasons as Lougan... while messing around with the new stuff is cool and all -- until there is some SLI support for my gaming addiction, I can't justify running it on my primary box.

I do miss the cool glass effects tho...  and now I have to wait for CS and HL2 to download back off of steam... frusty.gif

I finally went and reinstalled Vista, haha.  But now I dual boot, which I should have done before.  Now I can play with Vista and MCE all I want.   Hurray!
